Food Pantry Mission
The mission of the Suthers Center Christian Outreach Food Pantry is to combine the efforts and resources of our participating ministries and community to provide nutrition to members of our surrounding community who are experiencing temporary life challenges. Our efforts to reduce hunger are enhanced by reducing food waste by capitalizing on opportunities to collect and use excess food from local food sources. Suthers Center is also committed to educating and engaging the local community in the quest to fight hunger and homelessness.

Volunteers, the heart of everything we do
Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Their compassion, commitment, and generosity make it possible for the Suthers Center to serve our community each and every day.

Bob Comegys,
volunteer
Recently, one of our long-time volunteers, Bob Comegys, shared a devotional with the team before we began pantry distribution. His words deeply resonated with all of us—offering encouragement, reflection, and a renewed sense of purpose. We’re honored to share Bob’s devotional with you, and we hope it brings the same inspiration to you as it did to our volunteers.
As part of our valued team of volunteers serving today, you might consider:
Our Foundation - We stand on solid ground:
-
God’s abiding, never-failing love—for us, for our service, and for every neighbor who visits today.
-
The gift of shared energy, working side by side, with God’s quiet smile over us.
-
The guidance we’ve received from families, teachers, and our faith communities, shaping us into people who serve with heart.
-
Jesus’ simple, beautiful call: Love God. Love each other. Love your neighbor. Everything else hangs on that.
Our Determination - Service is more than checking a box. It’s discovering who we’re becoming.
-
We look for opportunities to grow, to see more, to understand more, to stretch beyond just “service hours.”
-
We build confidence in the choices we make—ethical choices, spiritual choices, life-shaping choices.
-
We seek the wisdom and perspective that help us repair, maintain, and celebrate our lives in a world that needs every bit of attention we can give.
Our Inspiration - And when the morning is done:
-
We’ll feel the quiet joy of serving people who are deeply loved by God.
-
We’ll carry a little history of our own, something worth remembering when the day gets busy again.
-
And someday—maybe—you’ll tell a child, or a friend, “I used to help at a food pantry. It mattered to me.” And, it will still matter.
Let’s join together with a Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, Make us faithful members of Your living Body on earth. Let our hands serve with kindness, our hearts open with compassion, and our spirits stay rooted in Your love. Bless our neighbors, bless our work, and bless the community we build together today. Amen.

The Suthers Pantry had a lot of fun this past school year with our high school volunteers. We love our students! This group even created a Suthers Pantry song!

The Suthers Food Pantry Song
I don't know but I've been told
Suthers pantry gets the gold
Working hard when the sun don't shine
We make sure the food's Divine
Ham or chicken we don't care
Onesies too we're happy to share
Stick it in and fill it up
We make sure to fill their cup
Stuff the fridge until it busts
Helping people that's a must
Changing all these people's lives
Giving them meat so they will thrive
St. Martins we do the deed
We are feeding the people in need
God asked us to help the poor
Doing his work that's for sure
